Welcome to NSW

Thank you for choosing Sydney and NSW as your study destination!

Being a long way from home, we want you to feel welcome in our community and that is why we are committed to making your experience in NSW the best it can be. StudyNSW is a NSW Government initiative that aims to support and enrich your student experience.

Before you arrive

Flights and airports

Sydney Airport is an international airport located 8 km south of Sydney city centre, in the suburb of Mascot. Sydney Airport is the busiest airport in Australia and has three terminals: one international terminal (T1) and two domestic terminals (T2 and T3).

NSW International Student Airport Welcome Desk

StudyNSW opened the NSW International Student Airport Welcome Desk in 2015 to greet international students arriving at Sydney International Airport.

The welcome desk is located beside the Airport Ambassador’s desk in Arrivals Hall A International Terminal.

It is open morning and evening 7 days a week during peak times of February and July and Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings at all other times.

The welcome desk is staffed by local and international student volunteers through a work integrated learning (WIL) program coordinated by StudyNSW. Volunteers greet students and offer orientation advice including maps and information about accommodation and transport.
