What advice do you have for other international students?
Make the most of your student life. Get to know all your classmates, build good connections with your teachers, attend industry events, and talk to people every day. Take every opportunity you get to learn and adapt to local Australian life. Also, make use of the services and information that Study NSW has to offer. Be curious and be thankful!
What opportunities has studying in NSW given to you?
It has provided me the opportunity of finding the ideal place to live because of the vibrant lifestyle, amazing weather and lovely people. I really enjoy being in a multicultural environment and this is something that is hard to come by in Estonia. Additionally, I was able to start my own design studio in Newcastle to create interior objects. My business was also awarded the MINI Bright Rays grant which will help my business work closely with local suppliers. I also became a finalist as an emerging designer for the 2016 Interior Design Excellence Awards.
What has been your favourite experience in NSW?
I love nature, especially the outback. NSW has everything from great camping sites to beautiful bush land and amazing beaches. My favourite experience so far has been the opportunity to witness an Indigenous smoking ceremony on New Year's Day in Mangarlowe, NSW.
