I like to travel. It gives me a sense of purpose and there is so much to explore in this beautiful state.
What opportunities has studying in NSW given to you?
Studying in NSW has given me a number of opportunities including academic knowledge and the skills gained with years of studying in prestigious universities, plus personal experiences that now enrich my life. I learnt about different cultures and people from all over the globe.
NSW is a multicultural state and studying in top tertiary education institutions, understanding cultural diversity and meeting new people is a day-to-day situation. Furthermore, studying in prestigious universities in NSW provided me with a solid foundation that has helped me secure a full-time job as a Global Project Manager in a multinational company.
I was the President of the Ecuadorian Students here in Sydney for almost three years. It was a wonderful and rewarding experience welcoming Ecuadorian students from different regions of Ecuador to Sydney. This opportunity allowed me to work alongside with the Ecuadorian Embassy and its Ambassador at different events and social gatherings where expats and diplomatic staff celebrated together.
What has been your favourite experience in NSW?
My favourite experience was when I organised a fundraising event as the President of Ecuadorian Students in Sydney to support Ecuadorians affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck a region of the coast of Ecuador in 2016. Due to my involvement in managing this initiative, our group grew both in number and in reputation.
What advice do you have for other international students?
Encourage yourself to go out of your comfort zone and study overseas. This has been one of the best, if not the best, experiences in my entire life. NSW offers you a variety of experiences, from studying in top universities to a lot of cultural diversity. I consider myself a simple person who dreams big, and this is one of the reasons why I opted to challenge myself and come to Australia. I strongly believe that I have achieved most of my original dreams and will continue achieving more. I am making my dreams a reality, so if I can make it, so too can you.
