Flights and airports
Sydney Airport is an international airport located 8 km south of Sydney city centre, in the suburb of Mascot. Sydney Airport is the busiest airport in Australia and has three terminals: one international terminal (T1) and two domestic terminals (T2 and T3).
NSW International Student Airport Welcome Desk
StudyNSW opened the NSW International Student Airport Welcome Desk in 2015 to greet international students arriving at Sydney International Airport.
The welcome desk is located beside the Airport Ambassador’s desk in Arrivals Hall A International Terminal.
It is open morning and evening 7 days a week during peak times of February and July and Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings at all other times.
The welcome desk is staffed by local and international student volunteers through a work integrated learning (WIL) program coordinated by StudyNSW. Volunteers greet students and offer orientation advice including maps and information about accommodation and transport.
Thank you to our supporters
The NSW International Student Airport Welcome Desk was established in July 2015 by StudyNSW and stakeholders from the NSW international education sector.
The project is co-funded by a consortium including StudyNSW, Destination NSW, Australian Catholic University, Charles Sturt University, Macquarie University, University of Sydney, University of Newcastle, UNSW Australia, University of Technology Sydney, Western Sydney University, University of Wollongong, Southern Cross University, University of New England, TAFE NSW, NSW Department of Education, English Australia and is supported by the Council of International Students Australia (CISA).
We are here to help. StudyNSW coordinates a wide range of services for international students including free legal advice for international students through a partnership with Redfern Legal Centre, work integrated learning (WIL) opportunities through programs such as NSW Global Scope, our airport welcome desk and free information and referral advice through a partnership with Service NSW.
Volunteer at the Airport Welcome Desk
The welcome desk is staffed by local and international student volunteers through a work integrated learning program. We want you to be a part of it. StudyNSW is looking for students to take part in a Workplace Integrated Learning (WIL) program with their institutions and the NSW Government. Find out more here.
