NSW International Student Awards

Celebrating excellence

Nominations for the 2020 NSW International Student Awards are now open. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this years awards will be held through a virtual ceremony in December 2020.

About

The NSW International Student Awards recognise the outstanding contributions international students make to communities in NSW and celebrate excellence in international student community engagement.

Last year more than 280,000 international students enrolled in courses across NSW’s excellent education institutions, helping to make NSW the vibrant, multicultural and dynamic place that it is. Many international students become great ambassadors for NSW as future leaders and advocates for trade, diplomacy and research links. The NSW Government acknowledges their valuable contribution to the State and reaffirms its commitment to making their study experience in NSW the best it can be.

2020 awards

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to present many challenges for international students and our broader education community. However, through adversity we have seen extraordinary generosity, kindness, leadership and strength as we work to support each other and demonstrate that we are #InThisTogether.

The 2020 NSW International Student Awards will shine a light on the inspirational international student leaders, education providers, business and community groups and celebrate their contributions to the community over the past 12 months.

At this stage, the awards ceremony will be hosted virtually in December 2020. Although we may not be together in person, our award finalists and winners will be celebrated on a global stage with their fellow students, government and education colleagues, family and friends from around the world.

Award categories

Two groups of awards are presented—the NSW International Student of the Year Awards and the NSW International Student

The awards showcase the achievements of international students in the higher education, vocational education and training, English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) and schools sectors.

The NSW International Student Community Engagement Awards recognise the contribution of education providers, businesses and community groups that support international students to connect with the community through programs and initiatives.
